Genesis 2:17 (For in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die)
(For in the day
that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die)
『But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou
shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely
die. 』 (Genesis 2:17) The
tree of knowledge of good and evil on earth means the law. The law is the water
under the sky. Through the law, the fruits of the heart who want to be like God
themselves appear. In other words, the tree that knows good and evil is the
law, and the fruit on the tree is its righteousness (fruit). The seed of the
fruit does not become life to itself, nor to others.
The word
"died" is a state in which the human spirit is dead. And it says,
"People die again." The spirit died once because it was trapped in
this world, but it is judged and dies by eating the fruit of the tree that
knows good and evil again. The death of the body is included in the first
death. Living in this world is the first death in the eyes of God.
So, God
speaks on the premise that "the body must die someday". "for in
the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die". In the original
text of the Hebrew language, it says, "He will die and die." Since
there is something that dies twice in the translation process, it seems to have
been translated as "must be" because it is considered to be
emphasized. About dying twice, in Revelation 20:14.『And death and hell were cast into
the lake of fire. This is the second death. 』 The second death is received by those who do not
wear the spirit body. If you do not wear the body of the spirit, you cannot
return to God again. The body of the spirit is the body that is reborn by the
Holy Spirit.
『 for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt
surely die 』 Here, the day of "Eating Day" was
expressed as yom. This can be said as "while in the world." It means
the day of life when we tried hard to become like God while we were in the
world. In Matthew 8:22『 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead. 』Among those who tried to follow Jesus, their
family died, and they said they would bury the family and follow Jesus. But
Jesus is telling other families to bury and follow me. Those who do not follow
Jesus are dead. It is to let the dead of the spirit buried the "dead of
the flesh." The condition of leaving God is that the spirit is dead, and
that the body is dead (including the one that will surely die someday). The
reason God sets a certain period of time for the body to die is that the
spirits will try to be like God, so try and repent and return during that
period.
In Revelation 20:6『 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first
resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests
of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. 』The millennial kingdom means the kingdom of the
Messiah (the restoration of Israel) and becomes the kingdom of God on earth. It
is the shadow of the kingdom of God. In other words, it is like the garden of
Eden. In the Millennium Kingdom, Jesus Christ returned and ruled the earth for
millennia. There is a concept of time in the world, but there is no concept of
time in the kingdom of God. He said that the dead are resurrected, and that the
living are raptured.
In 1
Thessalonians 4:16-17『 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a
shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead
in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught
up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall
we ever be with the Lord. 』 The same statement is said in 1 Corinthians
15:51.『 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We
shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 』
Before Jesus
comes into the world, those who have been waiting for Christ in the future die
in the arms of Abraham and participate in the first resurrection, and after
Jesus, those who are born again by the Holy Spirit in Christ also participate
in the resurrection.
In Christ,
those who are dead or who are still alive participate in the resurrection.
Rebirth is resurrection. In Ephesians 2:5-6『 Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath
raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ
Jesus: 』 Those who live on
this earth are only flesh on this earth. But those who are in Christ are
wearing the body of the spirit and sitting at the right hand of God in Christ.
Those who think differently of regeneration and resurrection are like not
believing in the present resurrection. There was a conversation with Lazarus'
sister Martha when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. There is a present
resurrection. In John 11:24-26『 Martha saith unto him, I know
that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto
her, I am the resurrection, and
the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And
whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? 』 Martha said
she believes in resurrection when a person dies. But Jesus is saying,
"Blessed are those who believe in resurrection when they are alive."
But what happens to the body when the saints are raptured? In 2 Corinthians 5:4『 For we
that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be
unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. 』 The body
disappears suddenly, and the resurrected body appears.
Jesus died and
was resurrected in three days. The body of the dead Jesus disappears, and we
can understand through the appearance of the body of the risen Jesus. The body
of the dead Jesus is different from the body of the risen Jesus. What happened
between the dead body and the resurrected body? It is reminiscent of Jesus
making wine with water. The story that water became wine must be believed that
the water disappeared and the wine appeared. Water did not become wine due to
chemical changes, but water disappeared (died) and wine appeared (born). Water
represents the law, and wine is the word of the new covenant.
Jesus died by
the law. And he was resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit. The law is the
word of God, but it is not the life-giving word. Only life is received by the
power of the Holy Spirit. So to those in Christ, the law is gone, and only the
Holy Spirit works. The born-again saint is a body (the dead Jesus) dead in
Christ by the law, although the flesh received from his parents is alive. The
body of the spirit is the body (resurrected Jesus) reborn by the grace of God.
So the dead Jesus disappears, and just as the resurrected Jesus appeared, so
does the saint's body. Suddenly, the body disappears and the regenerated spirit
body appears. In 1 Corinthians 15:42-44『 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in
corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is
raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is
sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body,
and there is a spiritual body. 』 The dead are flesh bodies. Those who do not have
the Spirit's body become naked. Those who do not wear the spirit body will
become the second death.
"The
reason God sent a spirit that had sinned in the kingdom of God into the
world" was to allow him to do so because he was trying to build his own
kingdom. What they build their own kingdom is that they can be good on their
own without God, and they eat the fruit of a tree that knows good and evil.
However, God said not to eat the fruit. Because God is telling them not to try
to become like God without God even on earth, realize that they are the ones
who have left God, and return to God. Although God sent spirits to the world,
he wants the spirits to repent and return. If you eat the fruit of a tree that
knows good and evil, you will die again.
